Confidentiality

A vital part of the spiritual direction relationship is confidentiality. Simply put, whatever is shared in direction stays in direction. This allows the directee to feel safe to share whatever is on their heart.

There are three notable exceptions when confidentiality may be broken.

First, I am ethically required to report any child abuse or situations where a child may be at risk of abuse.

Second, if a directee has a plan for committing suicide, I will make every effort to help preserve their life.

Third, I meet with other spiritual directors for peer supervision. I may share some general content from a session to seek guidance, but no identifying information is ever disclosed.
