Confidentiality

A vital part of the Spiritual Direction relationship is confidentiality. Simply put, whatever is shared in direction stays in direction. This allows the directee to feel safe to share whatever is on their heart.

There are three notable exceptions to when confidentiality will be broken.

First. I am ethically required to report any child abuse or situation in which a child may be at risk of abuse.

Second. If a directee has a plan for committing suicide, I will make every effort to help preserve their life.

Third. I meet with other spiritual directors for peer supervision. I may share some general content from a session in supervision to ask for guidance. When content is shared, no identifying information is shared.
